The Best Time to Visit Paris
I've walked the Seine in every month of the year, and Paris genuinely has no bad season, just different trade-offs. Come in shoulder season and you get mild air, blooming chestnut trees or turning leaves, and museum lines you can actually stand in; come in summer and you trade comfort for long daylight and a livelier, more touristy street scene. Winter is the honest budget play if you don't mind grey skies and a jacket.

Spring (shoulder)
April–June
Ideal for walking, garden visits, and outdoor cafés without fighting July-level crowds; pack a light rain jacket for sudden showers.

Best for long evenings and rooftop terraces, but expect packed monuments, August closures of many family-run restaurants, and premium hotel rates.

September–November
